East Orange County is the unincorporated area of east Orlando. It is near the University of Central Florida, featuring sprawling communities such as Avalon Park, an 8,000 acre development surrounded by protected wilderness and wildlife, with 600 acres of preserved forest and open space with 250 acres of man made ponds. Avalon Park has everything one needs within the community. In Avalon Park, residents can walk to the community center for shopping, recreation, and entertainment and also residents will be enjoy Regional Park which consist of football/soccer fields, baseball/softball fields, picnic pavilions, tennis courts, and basketball courts. There are paved paths for both walking and jogging and additional paths in the nature preserve. All the schools are located within the community, which makes this convenient for families. Other popular developments include Waterford Lakes, Eastwood, and Stoneybrook that offers the best of both retail and residential. The Waterford Town Center is an open-air mall with all the stores, restaurants, and cinema with stadium seating.
