Gotha a tiny rural enclave tucked inconspicuously north of upscale Windermere was once renowned for the caladium capital of the world. This unincorporated community, which has untouched evergreen woodlands and hundreds of lakes, is starting to expand, with at least five upscale neighborhoods, which are either under construction or in the planning stages. Still the county’s rural settlement designation generally prohibits density greater than one home per acre resulting in developments that will be exclusive and expensive.
